## Three steps to your first orientation

We designed the experience to be as simple as answering honestly. No accounts, no emails, no waiting.

1. **Choose the test that fits you** — Browse the catalogue by category: neurodevelopment, mood and anxiety, wellbeing and relationships. Each test explains what it measures and who it is for.
2. **Answer honestly** — Between 12 and 20 questions with a clear scale. Think about how you have usually felt over the stated period, not on one particular day.
3. **Read your result and decide** — You get a score, an indicative level, a breakdown by area and practical advice. And, if you need it, the contact details of an online psychologist.

## Choose the test that best describes how you feel

## Scientific rigour with a design made for you

Looking for answers about your mental health is hard enough. The tool should not be.

- **Scientific basis** — Questions written from the DSM-5-TR, the ICD-11 and validated screening scales such as the PHQ-9, the GAD-7 or the ASRS.
- **Total privacy** — Tests are scored in your browser. We do not ask for your name or email and we store no answers.
- **In your language** — The whole site is available in Spanish, Catalan and English, and automatically detects your device language.
- **A professional behind it** — At the end of every test we recommend a licensed clinical psychologist who works online, so the next step is easy.

## What is an online psychological test and what is it for?

An **online psychological test** is a self-report questionnaire that collects, in a structured way, how often or how intensely you experience certain symptoms, thoughts or behaviours. Unlike a magazine personality quiz, MyPsicoTest tests are built from **recognised diagnostic criteria** and from the structure of **validated screening scales**, that is, the same instruments professionals use in the first phase of an assessment.

Their usefulness is twofold. On the one hand, they help you **name and organise** something you may have been noticing vaguely for a while: trouble concentrating, constant worry, exhaustion that rest does not fix, or the feeling of not fitting in socially. On the other, they give you an **objective starting point** to decide whether it is worth consulting a professional and to explain, with data in hand, what is happening to you.

Many people take years to ask for help because they do not know whether what they feel is "serious enough". A well-designed screening test does not replace that conversation with a professional, but it brings it closer.

## Screening is not diagnosis: what a test can and cannot tell you

It is worth being very clear about this. A screening test **estimates the likelihood** that your symptoms correspond to a given condition; a **diagnosis** can only be made by a mental health professional after a clinical interview, a review of your personal history and, where appropriate, complementary tests.

This has two practical consequences:

- **A high result does not mean you have the disorder.** It means your answers resemble those of people who do closely enough to justify an assessment. Many conditions share symptoms: poor concentration appears in ADHD, but also in anxiety, depression or insomnia.
- **A low result does not rule it out completely.** People who have spent years compensating for their difficulties, or who tend to minimise them, may score lower than their real situation would warrant.

That is why every page includes an interpretation guide with score cut-offs, an explanation of look-alike conditions and clear advice on when to consult. And that is why all our results end with the same invitation: if in doubt, talk to a psychologist.

## How we designed the MyPsicoTest tests

Each of our 15 tests follows the same development process:

1. **Choosing the construct.** We select conditions and psychological dimensions with clear clinical criteria (DSM-5-TR and ICD-11) and reference screening instruments.
2. **Writing the items.** We write original questions that reflect the diagnostic criteria in everyday, understandable, jargon-free language. When a public-domain instrument exists (such as the PHQ-9 for depression or the GAD-7 for anxiety), we adapt and cite it.
3. **Consistent response scales.** We use frequency, intensity or agreement scales with four or five options, always from lowest to highest, so answering is intuitive.
4. **Indicative cut-off points.** We define between three and five result levels, calibrated to maximise sensitivity: we would rather someone books a consultation that turns out to be unnecessary than goes without help.
5. **Breakdown by area.** Most tests show subscales (for example, inattention versus hyperactivity in ADHD) to make the result more useful.
6. **Review and updates.** Content is reviewed periodically in line with current clinical guidelines.

The result is a collection of **short (3 to 6 minutes), rigorous and pleasant-to-answer tests**, available in Spanish, Catalan and English.

## How to interpret your results and what to do next

When you finish a test you will see a **total score**, an **indicative level** (low, mild, moderate, high or very high), a text explaining what that range means, a **breakdown by area** and a list of **concrete steps**. We suggest reading it calmly and, if you want to keep it, taking a screenshot, because we store nothing.

### If your result is low

That is good news, but do not ignore what led you to take the test. Review the most common factors affecting wellbeing (sleep, stress, physical activity, relationships) and consider taking a related test: discomfort often has a different name from the one we imagined.

### If your result is moderate or high

It is time to **consult a professional**. It does not mean something is "very wrong": it means you have enough indicators for an assessment to be worthwhile. Take your result to the appointment; it will help guide the first session.

### In any case

Remember that a test measures a specific moment. If your situation changes, you can retake it a few weeks later and compare.

## When to ask a psychologist for help (and why online therapy works)

You do not need to hit rock bottom to ask for help. The most common reasons to consult are that the discomfort **lasts for weeks**, that it **interferes** with work, studies or relationships, that it **comes back** in cycles, or simply that you want to **understand yourself better**. If thoughts of harming yourself appear, the consultation is urgent: in Spain you can call **024** (24 hours, free) or **112**, or your local emergency number elsewhere.

**Online therapy** has shown in numerous studies an effectiveness equivalent to in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia and many other difficulties. Its advantages are practical: no travel, flexible hours and a setting where you feel safe. That is why, at the end of every test, we recommend [**Xènia Capel Salcedo**](https://psicologaigualada.es/en/therapist-psychologist-igualada/), a licensed clinical psychologist (COPC 14982) with a master's degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, who offers [online therapy](https://psicologaigualada.es/en/online-therapy-online-therapist/) from anywhere and a **free first consultation call**.

## Your privacy: we store no answers

We know that answering questions about your mental health honestly requires trust. That is why MyPsicoTest works in a radically simple way: **the test is scored entirely in your browser**. Your answers never travel to a server, are not linked to your IP address and are not stored in any database. We do not ask for a name, an email address or a sign-up, and we use no third-party analytics tools.

The only first-party cookies are technical: they remember the language you chose and your decision about the cookie notice. We also use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to see how the site is used, and **they only run if you accept**: if you decline, the site works exactly the same and nothing from Google or Microsoft is loaded. Analytics measures pages, not people, and the test block is masked, so neither your answers nor your result are recorded. You can read the details in our privacy policy. If you want to share a test with someone, the link that is shared is the page's, never your results.

## Frequently asked questions

### Are MyPsicoTest tests free?

Yes. All tests are completely free, require no sign-up and show the result immediately. There are no paid versions and no locked content.

### Can an online test diagnose ADHD, anxiety or depression?

No. They are screening tools that estimate whether your symptoms resemble those of a condition. Only a mental health professional can make a diagnosis through a clinical assessment. Our tests help you decide whether it is worth consulting and explain what is going on.

### Do you store my answers or results?

No. The test is scored on your device and we neither send nor store any answers. If you want to keep your result, take a screenshot.

### What are the questions based on?

On the diagnostic criteria of the DSM-5-TR and ICD-11 and on the structure of validated screening scales. When a public-domain instrument exists, such as the PHQ-9 or the GAD-7, we adapt it and cite it in each test's scientific basis.

### How long does a test take?

Between three and six minutes, depending on the number of questions (12 to 20). You can go back to change an answer and retake the test as many times as you like.

### Can I take the tests in Spanish or Catalan?

Yes. The whole site is available in Spanish, Catalan and English. We detect your device language and you can change it at any time from the switcher in the header.

### What should I do if my result is high?

Consult a professional. At the end of every test we recommend Xènia Capel Salcedo, a licensed clinical psychologist who works online and offers a free first consultation call. If you have thoughts of harming yourself, call 024 in Spain, 112, or your local emergency number.
